A Few Thoughts About Mountain Travel:

Always carry tire chains whenever snow conditions may exist. (usually November through April)

Call (800)427-ROAD for the latest mountain road conditions.

Carry in your car: a blanket, a shovel, extra water, a flashlight, and road flares. A cell phone may be of assistance, but there are several "dead" spots coming up the mountain.

Never run the air conditioner when coming up the mountain as your car could over heat.

Avoid crossing over the yellow dividing line. This is a major cause of mountain road accidents. Also, avoid getting too close to yellow line and oncoming drivers who cross line.

Try not to feed small children for several hours before traveling in the mountains to avoid car sickness. The curvy roads often make children and adults nauseous.
